Red lights for struggling Dynamos

Sport  Date: 24 March 2006

Dynamos are still being haunted by the relegation ghost despite the fact that they had appointed their former coach, Mr Jacob “Cellular” Sakala, as the team’s technical advisor two weeks ago. The team is currently lying in the third last place on the log.

They have so far deposited 26 points into their league account, gained from 26 matches. They are still to win a league match after their Christmas recess. Their most disappointing results was a 2-3 defeat at the hands of the resurrected Bush Bucks. The match was played at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane last Saturday.

They dropped more points to Moroka Swallows last Wednesday, when they lost 2-3 at the same venue.

Sakala blamed the keeper, Swadick Sanudi, for the two defeats.

Dynamos are on top of Thembisa Classic and Free State Stars, who have 23 and 21 points respectively. Classic stand a better chance of escaping relegation as they have two matches in hand. When they were booted out of the Absa Cup competition in the opening round, everybody thought their aim was to focus on their league activities, but they are dropping points week after week.

Black Leopards, who have been preaching the word that they will finish the league among the top four teams are now lying in the eleventh spot, with 30 points accumulated from 26 matches. They must win at least three of their remaining four matches in order to book a place in the SAA Supa 8.

The team that is currently leading the pack is Kaizer Chiefs. They have 46 points in their account, two ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns, who have two matches in hand. Orlando Pirates are lying in third place.
