Sweet victory for Leopards

 

Black Leopards proved all their critics wrong by collecting the maximum NFD league points away from home. They beat Mbombela United 2-1 at the Kanyamazane Stadium in Nelspruit on Saturday.

Mziwokuthula Zimu and Phathutshedzo Nange scored for the Thohoyandou side. Mbombela’s solitary goal was scored by Joseph Mthimkulu.

Leopards are in the second position on the log with 30 points accumulated from 18 outings. They are 10 points behind the pace setters, Thanda Royal Zulu.

Royal Zulu are still to lose a league match to date. They played to a 2-2 draw with Amazuluin Richards Bay on Sunday. Amazulu were the first to find the net. Veteran Siyabonga Nomvete blasted in a rocket from outside the box. Thanda scored two in quick succession to bring the half-time score to 2-1, but Amazulu found the equalizer later in the game.

Magezi FC lost 0-1 to University of Pretoria at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium and Real Kings beat Jomo Cosmos 1-0 in Durban. Solly Dlamini scored the Kings’ deciding goal.

Santos beat Milano United 1-0 at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town, while Stellenbosch FC beat FC Cape Tow 2-1 at the Coetzenburg Stadium.

Royal Eagles kept their title hopes alive when they beat Mthatha Bucks 3-2 at the Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg. Witbank Spurs lost 0-1 to Cape Town All Stars, despite the fact that they were playing in front of their home crowd.
