Easy victory for Defenders

Mpheni Home Defenders will represent MMK Stream E league in the Safa Vhembe promotional play-offs, after they won their stream by beating Magau United 2-0 at Mpheni on Saturday.

Defenders took the game to their opponents from the onset, giving the defenders of United no time to breathe. Lucky Munyai of Defenders was a marvel to watch and he performed spectacularly.

It took Defenders 20 minutes to knock on United’s door. Their slender left flank, Trust Tshidumo, miskicked the ball within the box. The game was 23^rd minutes old when the hosts took the lead. Hector Mulaudzi dished a pre-cooked pass to Freddy Ncobo, who moved three steps forward before unleashing a half volley. 

The half-time score was 1-0 in favour of Defenders.

Defenders made three replacements in the second half. They introduced Dakalo Nwanamidwa, Lesley Maluma and Shorene Ndwambi for Trust Tshidumo, Hector Mulaudzi and Lucky Munyai respectively. The replacements changed the complexion of the game, as the Defenders continued to fight like a possessed team.

The second goal of Defenders came in the 76^th minute. Ndaedzo Mareda scored after a beautiful pass from Emmanuel Mphephu. The players who went to referee's book for different infringements were Mutangwa Matodzi Naledzani Maduwa of United and Isaac Makhuvha and Lufuno Dzhivhuli of Defenders.

Kaizer Nengovhela

Kaizer Nengovhela started writing stories for Limpopo Mirror in 2000. Prior to that he had a five year stint at Phala-Phala FM as sports presenter. In 2005 Kaizer received an award from the province's premier as Best Sports Presenter. The same year he was also nominated as Best Sports Reporter by the Makhado Municipality.
