After many months out of action, Limpopo’s welterweight champion, Avhashoni Mbedzi, will be back in the ring on July 1.
In a tournament organized by Tshiawelo Boxing Promotions, Mbedzi, who has not thrown a punch for more than a year, will face Thabo Mashishi of Mpumalanga over eight rounds at the Thohoyandou Indoor Sports Centre. This fight will be the main bout.
The main supporting bout will see Tally Disoloane and Mulalo Nenungwi, both from Limpopo, fight over six rounds in the junior lightweight division.
Evans Mamaleka and Norman Tshisikhawe, both from Limpopo, will also fight over six rounds in the lightweight division.
Also in the lightweight division, Tumelo Mabusha of Limpopo will fight Joseph Modise of Gauteng over four rounds.
In the super middleweight category, Ntshengedzeni Netshivhera will fight Kenneth Hlayisi of Gauteng over four rounds.
In the light welterweight section, Tshifhiwa Makonani of Limpopo will fight David Tshabalala of Gauteng over four rounds.
Mphaphuli Phatheleni and Masiho Mahosi, both from local stables, will fight in the junior lightweight division over four rounds.
Mbulaheni Mudau and James Kobe, also locals, will fight in the featherweight division over four rounds.
