Fabulous prizes in Khethi Gavhi tournament

 

The annual Khethi Gavhi Soccer Tournament will be staged at the Mushiru grounds this weekend. Eight teams from Mushiru and the surrounding areas will take part in this year’s event.

According to one of the organisers of the tournament, Mr Trevor Mudzanani, teams gearing up for the annual event are: Mubvumoni X Arrows, Nnduvheni FC, Begwa United Brothers, Lukalo Hotspurs, Mushiru Young Tigers, Madandila Happy Boys, Mutshetshe Hungry Lions and Munangwe United Brothers.

The toss for the quarterfinal matches will be conducted at the grounds tomorrow (Saturday) morning at 08:00, while the opening match is scheduled to start at 09:00.

This year’s champions will receive R1 000, a soccer kit, a floating trophy and a soccer ball. The runners-up will take home R1 000 and a soccer ball, the third-placed side will receive R500 and a soccer ball. The fourth-placed team will receive R250 and a soccer ball, while the teams booted out in the first round of matches (quarterfinals) will each receive a soccer ball.

The toss for the semifinal matches will be conducted at the grounds after the last match tomorrow. According to Mudzanani, the prize-giving ceremony will be held at the grounds shortly after the final whistle on Sunday.

The hosts, Mushiru Young Tigers, are the defending champions, while a  local businessman, Mr Khethi Gavhi, is the sponsor of the tournament.
