Narrow victory for Jamaican Stars.

Mukula Jamaican Stars secured a place in the final of the Thulamela Local Football Association's champ-of-champs tournament by beating Mavunde Hungry Vultures 1-0 at the Makhuvha Stadium on Sunday.

Jamaican Stars were good in the middle of the park, but their strikers did not have enough firing power. Realizing that their midfielders were not dishing out enough passes to them, the strikers of Stars abandoned their positions and moved back to assist them.

Hungry Vultures threatened to score twice in a row before the referee blew the half-time whistle. In the first instance their overlapping midfielder, Hulisani Nemavunde, forced his way through the defence of Stars and tried his luck with a half volley from the edge of the box. The ball hit the woodwork and bounced outside the field of play.

As if that was not enough to irritate the supporters, Asivhanzhi Ndou received a beautiful pass from Ndivhuwo Muthude and caused an upset by shooting wide from close range. Rudzani Nedambale of Jamaican Stars was reprimanded with a card for a late tackle on Hulisani Nemavunde.

The Stars from Mukula were the first to effect change to their starting line-up. They introduced Steven Muthibi for Rofhiwa Madamalala three minutes into the last half. Hungry Vultures responded by replacing Hulisani Nemavunde with Mbofho Makuya in the 67th minute.

The goal that earned Jamaican Stars a place in the final came in the 78th minute. They were awarded a penalty after Ndivhuwo Muthude handled within the box. Cecil Nelwamondo blasted in a rocket from the spot. Hungry Vultures did not lose hope although time was fast running out for them. What could have been their equalizing goal was turned into a nightmare in the 84th minute. Their dribbling wizard, Talifhani Nemukula, went loose from the left corner and shot wide from inside the box.
