MEC launches sport awards.

Limpopo MEC for Sports, Arts and Culture Onicca Moloi says all 23 sports federations in the province must contribute to the development of sports.

She was speaking during the launch of the provincial annual sports awards held in Polokwane last Wednesday evening.

She mentioned that the third instalment of the Limpopo Sports Awards will be held on 1 October. Athletes from the sports confederations will be nominated in 17 different categories. Among the categories are sportsman and sportswoman of the year, newcomer of the year, coach of the year, school team of the year, administrator of the year, volunteer of the year, journalist of the year and photographer of the year.

The biggest prize is R50 000 rand for the sportsman and sportswoman of the year and the disabled sportsman and sportswoman of the year. The winners in each category will automatically qualify for nominations in the national sports awards.

Kaizer Nengovhela

Kaizer Nengovhela started writing stories for Limpopo Mirror in 2000. Prior to that he had a five year stint at Phala-Phala FM as sports presenter. In 2005 Kaizer received an award from the province's premier as Best Sports Presenter. The same year he was also nominated as Best Sports Reporter by the Makhado Municipality. Kaizer was awarded the Mathatha Tsedu award in 2014.
