Teams to battle it out in the Oceans School Tournament.

Four teams from around Shayandima, Duthuni, Tshifulanani and Itsani and two local secondary schools in Lwamondo are going to battle it out during the Oceans Private School Open Day Tournament.

The tournament, the brainchild of the school, located at the Pragmatic Centre next to Tshitshithe at Tshifulanani, takes place on Saturday 16 June 2018 (tomorrow) at the local Pragmatic Center Soccer Field, starting at 08:00.

The teams that will participate are Voweto Maximum Force, Itsani FC, Shayandima FC and Duthuni FC .

The tournament will also coincide with the launching of the school's bursary scheme aimed at assisting poor learners from the area.

The first prize is R3 000, second prize is R1 500 and R500 is the third prize.

Mr Joseph Mnyele, one of the directors at the school, said they had come up with the idea as a way of ploughing back into the community where they operate. He said the event would be an annual event and would bring the community together to enjoy a game of soccer.

“Soccer is one of the most followed sports in this area, and we feel it has got the power to bring people together, especially the youth who roam the streets aimlessly. We are fostering a sense of belonging and partnership with the community we serve and operate within,” he said.

Local soccer coordinator Mr Water Ramulongo praised the school, saying teams would benefit from the initiative. “Many businesses come and go without even doing a thing for the local community. With the prizes that would be won on the day, clubs would improve in terms of resources and we thank the school for this initiative,” said Ramulongo.
