Thembuluwo “Tower” Rambau was a marvel to watch when his team, Beuster Mighty Chiefs, beat Malamangwa Scorching Winters 2-0 to secure a place in the next round of the Petrus Madzuhe Soccer Tournament at the Maranzhe grounds on Sunday.

Rambau scored both his team’s goals and was everywhere, collecting balls from the centre of the pitch, while playing as a full striker as well.

Scorching Winters displayed entertaining football from behind, but their strikers ran out of ideas as they approached the Chiefs’ danger area. Mighty Chiefs were forced to make an early substitution. Their right back, Mpho Mukhathi, was taken off the field with a head injury in the eighth minute. He was replaced by Rabelani Kutama.  

Chiefs’ opening goal came in the 18^th minute. Thembuluwo Rambau made his presence felt when he tried his luck with a half volley. Unone Mbedzi, the Scorching Winters’ keeper, watched helplessly as the ball hit the back of the net.

The referee, Mr Roy Mulaudzi, flashed the first yellow card in the 25^th minute. Zwidofhelangani Nepfumbada of Winters was booked for obstructing Phumudzo Tshitereke. Ntakadzeni Mondelane, the Chiefs’ keeper, denied Winters a sure goal in the 39^th minute. Mondelane braved Frederick Munwana’s half volley and palmed the ball away for a corner kick.

Chiefs increased the lead later in the game when Rambau beat the offside trap and blasted in a rocket from inside the box.
