Leopards away to collect more points

After playing to a 2-2 draw with Highlands Park at the Makhulong Stadium in Thembisa last Thursday, Black Leopards will be away to collect points against Chippa United at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium in Port Elizabeth tomorrow evening.

Although a draw against the Chilli Boys looks good for them, the team’s head coach, Mr Joel “The Prophet” Masutha, was adamant that they would come back home with the maximum points.

He further stated that the spirit was high in the camp after coming back from a 0-2 deficit and holding Highlands Park to a 2-2 draw. The draw was as good as a victory for Lidoda Duvha, because it was their best result against Highlands Park.

The Thohoyandou side will welcome back the team’s captain, Marks Munyai, to the team. Munyai watched the team’s first two league games from the grandstand because of injury. Should he be given the chance to play tomorrow, Munyai is likely to form a deadly combination with Jean Munganga, Thivhavhudzi Ndou and Tsheamo Mashoene.

It remains to be seen whether the Chippa defenders will have the guts to stop the Leopards frontrunners, Mwape Musonda, Karabo Tshepo, Themba Ndlovu and Xolani Ndlovu. Themba Ndlovu scored the opening goal against Highlands Park, while Musonda scored the equalizer in the dying minutes of the game.

Tomorrow evening’s game is scheduled to start at 20:15.

In the other matches that will also be played tomorrow, Bidvest Wits will host SuperSport United at the Bidvest Stadium in Johannesburg, and Cape Town City will have a date with Lamontville Golden Arrows at the Cape Town Stadium. The Polokwane derby between Polokwane City and Baroka FC will be staged at the Peter Mokaba Stadium. Maritzburg United and Kaizer Chiefs will lock horns at the Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg in the only match that will be played this evening.

In the two matches that will be played on Sunday afternoon, Bloemfontein Celtic will host Orlando Pirates at the Dr Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein, while Free State Stars and Amazulu will meet at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban. Mamelodi Sundowns will host Highlands Park at the Loftus Stadium in Pretoria next Wednesday, 22 August.
