Victory for Leopard, but Supersport United’s behaviour shock

The Castle PSL match between Black Leopards and Supersport United ended in chaos at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Sunday, with the Supersport technical staff threatening to "finish off" assistant referee Godfrey Selopetsa. They alleged that the goal scorer of Leopards, Costa Khaiseb, had handeled the ball before scoring the only goal of the match.

The members of the SAPS who were present intervened and rescued the stranded match officials by escorting them to the dressing room.

With this victory, Leopards completed a brace against Supersport United in a month. About three weeks ago, they beat the team from Pretoria in a Telkom KO match.

With the score still 0-0 at the break, Leopards’ technical staff replaced their midfielder-cum-striker, Christopher Netshidzivhe, with Solly Masango early in the last half. The goal that earned Lidoda Duvha three significant points came in the 78th minute via a substitute, Costa Khaiseb. He won the ball after a clearing error by the United defender, Sboniso Gaxa, and beat the lone keeper, André Arendse, with a ground cutter.
