Ten pool clubs from the Nzhelele Valley unexpectedly pulled out from the MMK Pool Club Association.
Mirror learnt that the Hub, Midway, Netshitulane, Tshikota, Steers, Tshituni, Golgotha, Dzhongondo, Easy and Matshidza Pool Clubs officially launched their association last Saturday at Ha-Rabali. The association will be known as the Mphephu Pool Club Association.
When asked what had made them leave the MMK Pool Club, the chairperson of the newly established association, Mr TS "Chicco" Nekhubvi, alleged that people running the MMK Pool Club are not transparent.
"We were told that there was a sponsorship of R10 000, but during the prize-giving ceremony, we were surprised when the league champions were given a mere R2 000, while other teams never received anything. Through our investigation, we discovered that the prizes were from our affiliation fee," he said.
Nekhubvi said that, on several occasions, they requested the MMK Pool Association administrators to split the association into two streams, but all was in vain. "We were always losing because of traveling long distances to play league games with teams at Elim and Sinthumule/Kutuma," he said.
The affiliation fee at Mphephu Pool Association is R500, with a deposit of R250. "If we get more teams in our association, we will split our association into two or more streams. We will organise more tournaments, since most of the pool clubs have no sponsors," he claimed.
Nekhubvi will be assisted by Mr Muvhulawa Tshikosi. Mr Joseph Mosena was elected as the secretary and he will be assisted by David Nemakonde. The treasurer is Mr Alex Muthelo.
Mr David Manenzhe was elected the PRO of the association, while Mr Killer Managa was elected the chief emperor. Mr Vhonani Neluheni was elected as the administrative officer, while three more marketing officers were also elected.
The PRO of the MMK Pool Association, Mr Oupa Makoshi, denied the allegations that there is no transparency in their association. "Everything is in order. We do not even need an auditor to audit our books because we are clean and open. These people are power hungry. Our association will exist and keep on prospering without them," he said.
