When his first marriage broke down a few years ago, Cedric "16V" Madzaga told himself that it was not the end of the world and that "somewhere in this world, there is a heart like mine". He then gave himself time to search for somebody who would not only give him peace of mind, but would be the kind of person who would be by his side in times of want and plenty.
His search was not in vain as he finally met the woman of his heart´s desire somewhere in the Nzhelele Valley. Madzaga and his sweetheart, Takalani Matumba, tied the knot during a unique but glittering ceremony that was held at the Inn on Louis Trichardt Hotel last Saturday.
During the ceremony, Cedric’s father, Mr AK Madzaga, appealed to the new couple to copy from his family if they want to succeed in life. According to him, he has been staying with his wife for 44 years and that marriage is still something they are proud of.
Mr AK Madzaga is a retired schools inspector and an academic guru. Pastor VW Madzinge of the CWC Church said that the Venda culture denied many people the freedom of choice. He was referring to instances where parents were the ones to choose partners for their children.
Cedric earned his nickname "16V" during his heydays as a soccer star. He played for Black Leopards before joining the local National Soccer League affiliate, Pepsi the Angel, in the early nineties. He was part of the Dynamos team that played against Kaizer Chiefs in the Bobsave Superbowl KO Competition match that was played at the Thohoyandou Stadium.
His childhood dream was to become an employer and not an employee. This became evident when he chose not to seek employment after completing his studies but instead he pursued his business ideas. Madzaga is one of the prospering businessmen in the area today.
