Last Sunday was harvest day for the clubs that were affiliated to the Thulamela Local Football Association last season. Prize money to the value of R11 8050 was distributed among the 159 affiliate clubs during the ceremony that was held at the Thohoyandou Indoor sports Centre.
The champions from the three Super League streams, Jerome Black Lions, Mphego Juventus and Thohoyandou Manchester, were each given a cash prize of R4 000 and a floating trophy. The runner-ups from each stream went home with a cash prize of R3 000 each.
The champions from the six lower division streams, Vhutalu Mountain Rangers, Miluwani Happy Boys, Vondo Vibes, Omega Line FC, Mutandani Pull Together and Iyarunga XI Smarties, were each presented with cash prizes amounting to R2 500.
Teams that obtained the second position in the lower division level took home cash prizes to the tune of R2000 each. The U/14 and U/12 prizes were also dished out during the ceremony. The champions from the U/14 division, Makwarela Young Boys, became R700 richer. They were also presented with a floating trophy.
Makhanda Development, who finished their league programme on top of the U/12 division, were given a cheque amounting to R300. During the ceremony, it was announced that the three Super League champions, Thohoyandou Manchester United, Mphego Juventus and Jerome Black Lions, have been promoted to the Promotional League.
During the ceremony, it was also announced that the activities for the new season will commence during the weekend of September 1 and 2. A new knockout competition that will be known as the Nev Productions KO competition was launched during the ceremony. The first-round matches for the competition will be played this weekend.
