Sport  Date: 21 March 2008

Duthuni Happy Boys will represent the Vhembe Region in the provincial championship for the Metropolitan SAFA KO Competition that will be staged at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on a date still to be announced.

Happy Boys maintained their happiness by beating Lutomboni Junior Fire Boys 5-1 in the regional championship of the competition at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday.

Fire Boys, who beat Jerome Black Lions 7-3 in the semi-final stage at the same venue earlier that day, were the first score. There were shouts of "ladies first" from the Happy Boys’ supporters shortly after the Fire Boys’ solitary goal. Their only goal came in the sixth minute. Godfrey Khorommbi finished off a rebound after Seth Tshindane’s try from outside the box.

What followed thereafter was a one-way traffic flow, with Happy Boys on the attack. It was not long before Desmond Sithole scored the equalizer. He caught the Fire Boys’ keeper, Takalani Mukwevho, off guard and blasted in a rocket.

Mpho Mushavhanamadi, the Happy Boys’ central defender, was cautioned with a card for wasting time. Mpho’s brother, Ndivheni Mushavhanandi, hit the target a little later. He beat the keeper with a long drive from the 25 meter area. Happy Boys continued to pile pressure on their opponents’ defence. Their efforts did not pass without a reward as Desmond Sithole completed his brace in the 29th minute with a ground cutter.

Happy Boys were leading 4-1 at half time. Their fourth goal was scored by Ndivhuwo Netshidzati, who dribbled past three defenders in a row and blasted in a half volley. Happy Boys were awarded a penalty towards the end of the game. Ndivhuwo Netshidzati was brought down within the box and the referee pointed at the white spot. Thilivhali Lusunzi converted.
