Well-known police inspector Mashudu Siaga of Mapuloni is as busy as a bee in his job of chasing those who have collided with the law, but that does not prevent him from doing something else.
Siaga, the first Limpopo boxing ring announcer, is a former soccer player, who earned the name "Chippa"with the Mapuloni Highlanders .
"Athough I never featured in boxing, I was hooked by well-known ring announcer Desmond Sono. In 1988, I participated in an audition for a boxing announcer in Gauteng and was successful," he said. He has featured as a boxing analyst for two SABC radio stations in Limpopo and has also featured on Univen FM.
He has been honoured with trophies by the Mutale Municipality for his commitment and dedication. "Let’s display talent for the betterment of sporting codes," he says. He says he has drawn inspiration from Mr Mukandangawe Madzivhandila of Venda Boxing Promotions who inspired and mentored him. "He is the one who sent me to the auditions in Gauteng and I am what I am because of him," he says.
Kaizer Nengovhela started writing stories for Limpopo Mirror in 2000. Prior to that he had a five year stint at Phala-Phala FM as sports presenter. In 2005 Kaizer received an award from the province's premier as Best Sports Presenter. The same year he was also nominated as Best Sports Reporter by the Makhado Municipality. Kaizer was awarded the Mathatha Tsedu award in 2014.
