If you have ever dreamt of fishing for riches, now is your chance. The biggest sponsorship for an angling competition in this country has just been announced. The person who catches the marked fish stands to become R1 million richer in cash.

On Saturday, May 10, the person who catches the specially tagged carp at Forever Resorts Loskop Dam will be able to take home the biggest cash prize offered yet in an angling competition in South Africa. The competition is being held by Jacaranda 94.2 FM, in conjunction with Solly’s Discount World in Polokwane and Louis Trichardt.

Anglers or anyone interested in making this lucky catch can take part in the competition, as long as they have registered for it, either by entering on-line on Jacaranda’s website (www.jacarandafm.com or www.jacarandarmfm.co.za) or by phoning the radio station. Entry is free and anyone can take part. The competition will be run between 05:00 and 15:00.

According to Mr Solly Noor, co-sponsor of the prize, the day promises to be a fun-filled outing for the whole family with lots of other prizes to be won as well. Between 1 000 and 1 500 anglers are expected to take part in this big event. People wishing to make a weekend of it can book a place at Forever Resorts Loskop Dam. If the expected number of people show up, early booking is essential.

According to Mr Noor, people are being bombarded with bad news every day. He felt that such a competition would serve to bring some cheer to the people of the province in a time when financial burdens are increasing. Coupled with many people’s love for fishing, this seems to be a great opportunity to make some dreams come true.
