Former Black Leopards coach Joel “Prophet” Masutha has secured another coaching job less than a week after parting ways with the National First Division side.

Masutha, best known for guiding Leopards to promotion to the elite league twice, has been appointed head coach of Musina United, who compete in the Safa Limpopo ABC Motsepe League. He will be assisted by former Moroka Swallows skipper Luvhengo Mungomeni. The former head coach, Sunny Dube, has been moved to the position of technical manager.

Masutha joined the club on Tuesday, with his first match set for Saturday against Tshakhuma Tshamadzivhandila at the Musina Rugby Club Stadium.

United turned to Masutha after losing their opening league fixture 1-0 to newcomers Vondwe XI Bullets, handing him full responsibility for the team.

Masutha’s track record shows he is no ordinary coach. Team chairman Joe “Beast” Morwasethla said he was confident Masutha would steer the side to stronger performances.

Masutha said he had been given a clear mandate: to ensure the team completes the league programme successfully. “It feels great. I thank United for giving me this opportunity. Together we are going to achieve greater things.”

He said the task ahead was achievable because the team already had a solid foundation. “The players must have the right mentality and the willingness to do it. There are quite a few experienced players here and I think, if we work together, we will achieve our objective,” he said.
