MAKHADO (LOUIS TRICHARDT) – The town’s first cricket team totally outplayed Nylstroom in their encounter on Sunday, November 21.
Louis Trichardt’s captain, Robbie Janse van Vuuren won the toss and decided to put Nylstroom in to bat. After a slow but decent 9 without loss after 3 overs, things went horribly wrong for Nylstroom. They lost their first wicket in the fourth over to Leon Fourie and the second in the fifth to Dino De Faria. This started the collapse with wickets falling every over except in the tenth over where R. Gower hid two boundaries, only to be caught in the next over. Nylstroom’s innings finally drew to a sorry close, with 32 all out after just 13.5 overs. Top scoring for Nylstroom was R. Gower with 12 (the only batsmen to get double figures) and a player called “extras” came in close in second place second with 8 runs.
Louis Trichardt only used two bowlers, with Dino De Faria taking 5 wickets for the loss of 8 runs in 7 overs and Leon “Dagga” Fourie ending with five wickets for the loss of 22 runs in 6.5 overs.
After a short break, Louis Trichardt’s opening batsmen blasted their way to victory in a mere 2.3 overs. Nardus Barnard hid four boundaries to finish on 17 (not out), while partner Leon Fourie finished on 8 (not out). This gave Louis Trichardt a ten wicket victory.
