It’s now official, Black Leopards have been relegated to the Mvela Golden League.

The Thohoyandou outfit failed to make the grade in the promotional play-off matches. They lost 0-1 to Bay United at the Port Elizabeth Stadium last Wednesday afternoon. They were accorded their last chance to decide their own fate when they hosted the same team in their second-leg encounter at the Malamulele Stadium on Sunday.

That is where Lidoda Duvha disappointed the fans by sharing the spoils with Bay United, following their 1-1 draw. The result means that Black Leopards had lost 1-2 on aggregate. The management of the team had the players to blame for the poor results. They demonstrated this by putting 11 of their key players on the transfer list. The affected players were notified about the management’s decision during an urgent meeting that was held on Monday morning.

The players who were told that their services were no longer needed are Mulondo Sikhwivhilu, Myron Shongwe, Christopher Netshidzivhe, Nono Lubunzadio, Fisher Kondowe, Lebo Kekana, Thabiso Hlalele, Jabulani Maluleke, Christian Moudouthie, Walter Ramulondi and their left flank, David Makgale.

For the Malawian international, Fisher Kondowe, the Leopards management’s decision to put him on transfer is a blessing in disguise. He told Mirror that he was likely to join an Egyptian club in a few days’ time, saying negotiations were at an advanced stage.

The club’s brand manager, Tshifhiwa Thidiela, said that they wanted to rebuild the team with new blood and that there was no need for them to keep the so-called “big players” who had failed them. He revealed that they had a number of young talents in their camp who would do everybody proud, come next season.
