Makanga Young Vultures booked a place in the next stage of the prestigious Sir Tshiluvhu KO competition. They beat The Dophins at the Bergvlam Stadium on Saturday.

Young Vultures deserved to win from the onset, as Dolphins played the better of the game with 10 men. Their speedy forward, Mpho Nemuleme, was given his marching orders three minutes into the game. He intentionally handled the ball and the referee, Mr Olani Kwinda, was quick to show him red.

The Dolphins did not give in without a fight, despite the setback. They continued to fight like a team and managed to hold the Vultures to a half-time goalless draw.

Gudani Makhado of Young Vultures was booked for a late tackle on Daniel Radzivhoni. Young Vultures found the net four minutes into the last half. Maduvha Bulannga made no mistake after receiving a neat pass from Aluwani Netshivhambe within the box. Things turned from bad to worse for Dolphins as their captain, Mawela Tsharotha, was also given his marching orders for a continued argument with the referee.

Dolphins introduced Pfano Nemutanzhela for Ndivhuwo Masera in the 65th minute. Their solitary goal was scored by Mveletshedzi Nevhurwa, after the Vultures’ keeper, Maanda Sigogo, missed the ball. Vultures made three replacements late in the game. The substitutions proved to be a good move on the part of the technical staff as they scored the winner via Maduvha Bulannga moments thereafter. Vultures were also reduced to 10 men in the 78th minute. Gudani Makhado was sent off for a second offence. Vultures were defending in the last 15 minutes of the game.
