POLOKWANE - Sports personalities from various sporting codes, coaches, and media representatives were awarded during the Premier's Sports Award Ceremony which was held at the Meropa Casino last Wednesday night.
The MEC for Sports, Arts and Culture, Mrs Rosina Semenya, praised the recipients who did well in the last year to put Limpopo on the map. She congratulated the media people who encourage sports people around the province to work hard.
In the soccer category, the U/17 national goalkeeper trainer, Mr Colly Chauke from Giyani, was given an award for his commitment to the development of young people. Mr Solly Luvhengo, who assisted Mr Harold Lekgodi in the U/12 championship, was also given an award.
Mukondi Mulaudzi, an Under-19 ladies player and player of Ma-Indis who won the Vodacom Provincial League, also received an award, as well as the Orlando Pirates striker, Phumudzo Manenzhe of Madombidzha.
The Manyathela and Mokgashoa families received trophies in remembrance of the late Lesley Manyathela and Rueben Mokgashoa.
In athletics, Azwinaki Ndou of Tshakhuma Athletics Club received a trophy for being the best athlete in the province.
In the media category, James Shikwambane of Munghanalonene FM won several awards. His colleagues, Jimmy Mothalogoa of Thobela FM and Thilivhali "Big T" Muavha of Univen FM, also received awards.
In the printed media, Mirror's correspondent, Kaizer Nengovhela, received an award as the best sports reporter in the Far North.
