Thabelo “Bachelor” Nefale, the striker of Duthuni Happy Boys, will watch his team play six games from the touchline. This follows the league’s disciplinary committee’s decision to suspend him for six games, including cup matches, during its sitting last Thursday.

The case dates back to about two months ago, when Duthuni Happy Boys met Maniini All Blacks in their SAB League match. During that game, All Blacks lodged a protest with the referee. In their protest, All Blacks alleged that one of the Happy Boys’players, Thabelo Nefale was not properly registered with the team.

During its sitting last Thursday, the disciplinary committee found Happy Boys guilty of fielding an improperly registered player as charged. A fine of R1 500, which is payable within 30 days, was imposed on Happy Boys. The committee also ordered that Happy Boys should forfeit the points for the match in question to the opponents.

The player at the centre of the whole controversy, Nefale, was suspended for six games. As if that was not enough, another fine of R3 000 was imposed on Happy Boys for assaulting a match official during their match against Berea.

During the same sitting, the committee found Dopeni Mighty Comrades guilty of fielding an improperly registered player, Tshilidzi Nemabaka. The committee found that Nemabaka had used his brother’s name, Mashudu Nemabaka, when registering himself with Mighty Comrades.

Mighty Comrades were ordered to pay a fine of R1 500 within 30 days and to forfeit the league points for their match against Phungo All Stars to the opponents. The player in question, Tshilidzi Nemabaka, was also suspended for six games, including cup fixtures.
