Black Leopards Football Club is getting ready for a clash of a different kind when the club comes up against a former player, Godfrey Ramudzuli, in the Labour Court next month.
The two parties were supposed to meet at the Labour Court’s offices in Braamfontein last Friday, but the case was postponed to June 19.
According to Ramudzuli, who joined Leopards in the 2000/2001 season when they were still campaigning in the national First Division League, Leopards still owe him money. He alleges that, during the 2004/2005 season, the club paid him R12 000 per month as a salary instead of the R14 000 that he should have received.
“The team also failed to pay R22 000 for my medical fees, following an injury that I sustained during a Coca-Cola Cup game against Platinum Stars at Polokwane stadium,” he argues.
“I took the case to the CCMA, where I won the right of execution, an award given to attach Leopards’ property in order to recover my money, but they went for arbitration on May 2006, where they again lost,” said Ramudzuli.
Leopards approached the Labour Court as a last attempt to reverse the decision in favour of their former vice-captain.
