Black Leopards searching for a new coach

Sport  Date: 05 June 2009

If Black Leopards fail to acquire the services of a man to guide the team within the next two weeks, the team will be without a coach when they resume their training sessions.

According to the managing director of the team, Mr David Thidiela, the search is on for a man who will guide the team technically.

This after the club parted ways with Mr Vladislav Heric, the man who had been the team’s head coach in the last six months of last season. According to Thidiela, Heric entered into a six-month contract with the club early this year, with the option of extending it by 24 months.

Thidiela revealed that he told Heric to come to his office the Monday after their final league match against Dynamos. He indicated that Heric then refused to sign a contract, saying he should be given four days to make up his mind.

“After four days, Heric started to play hide and seek with me,” said Thidiela. What convinced Thidiela that Heric was no longer interested in staying with Leopards was when Heric removed all his belongings from the flat which had been allocated to him by the club.

Thidiela further stated that what angered him most were the media reports last week wherein Heric was quoted as saying he would only come back to Leopards if he failed to get a better offer in the coming weeks. Thidiela described Heric’s statement as an insult to his club, saying Black Leopards was not a home for “rejects”.

When approached for comment, Heric said that there was nothing wrong with his searching for a better offer as he is not contracted to any club at the moment. Heric joined Black Leopards after parting ways with his former employers, Bay United, unceremoniously.

Bay United have since been relegated to the National First Division. Leopards were lying somewhere in the relegation zone when Heric came to their rescue six months ago. Lidoda Duvha finished their league program in the third spot from the bottom of the log.

Leopards will resume with their training sessions on Tuesday, June 23.
