GYANI - The two local football associations, Giyani District and Malamulele District, recently received a welcome boost, when BMS Financial Service and MMK Insurance agreed to sponsor them to the tune of R23 900.
The presentation ceremony was held at the Giyani Community hall on Sunday.
The two leagues will share the R23 900. The managing director of BMS and MMK, Mr Solly Mukwevho, said he decided to finance the two associations, because he realised the need for companies like his to develop sport at grassroots level. He said he was confident that other business people would follow in his footsteps.
According to him, the sponsorship is a token of appreciation for the support which the financial schemes are getting from the community. Mukwevho further stated that it is the policy of his company to give some of their profit back to the community, and the company is prepared to sacrifice some of their profit to the youth to enable them to be involved in sport. He said he still going to give more for the development of the youth in the area.
The chairperson of the Giyani District, Mr Samson Chabalala, commented that the donation was towards a worthy cause. He said other businesspersons should also be urged to support local football associations.
The marketing manager of the Malamulele District, Mr Joseph Mabasa, thanked the management of BMS and MMK, saying that few businesspeople saw the importance of developing the community through the sponsorships.
