SAFA Vhembe suspends Mutale president

Sport  Date: 14 May 2010

After deciding to dissolve the executive committee of the Makhado Local Football Association last month, the South African Football Association in Vhembe last weekend suspended the Mutale president, Mr Fhatuwani Rananga Singo, for the alleged mismanagement of association funds. Some members of the local football association accused Singo of taking money from the association´s account. They also accused him of not depositing the association´s money in the bank, but rather using it for his own benefit. The members asked Safa Vhembe to intervene in this matter and an investigation followed. Singo was suspended as a result of the investigation. The president of Safa Vhembe, Mr Khorommbi Nemavhola, said that they were governed by Fifa and Safa rules, so only people who were interested in the smooth running of the organisation would be accommodated. He warned lazy members who thought they owned the association that their time was limited. “If you do not comply with the rules and regulations of Fifa and Safa, the mother body has the mandate to dissolve executive committees or suspend people. We need people who work for the people, not for themselves”, he said. Attempts to reach Singo, for comment were unsuccessful, as his phone was switched off. The new executive committee of the Makhado Local Football Association will be elected tomorrow (Saturday) at the Makhado Show Grounds Hall at 10:00. Safa Vhembe invited all the teams playing under the local football association to come and elect the people who will work for them.
