Teams which played under the banner of Safa Mopani shared an amount of R120 000 during the prize-giving ceremony which was held at Oasis Lodge in Giyani last Friday night. Mr Mathews Mateka was the guest speaker during the event. He stated that it was important that future stars´ talent should be identified at grassroots level. He applauded the management of the association for helping to identify the talent of the region´s youth and added that the youth of this region should be proud of their talent and that they should be exposed to bigger teams. He praised the committee, who managed the sport well and encouraged community members to keep it up to produce talent amongst the youthful athletes. The president of Mopani FA, Mr Vincent Ramaphago, appealed to businesspeople to get involved in promoting local activities. He added that his league had been operating many years without a sponsorship. He praised the team managers and players for their dedication and commitment during their matches. During the ceremony, the champions in the Mopani SAB League, Blue Rocks, went home with R13 500, a floating trophy for winning and were promoted to the Vodacom League. The runners-up, Tiyani Shining Stars, collected R9 000 and Question Mark FC R6 000 for ending in third position. Marwa United, who finished the league programme in fourth position, received R 4 500. The log leader in the local association, Siphungu United, went home with R2 000 and a floating trophy. The runners-up, Cosmos United, received R1 500, while the third-placed team, Mhlokoni FC, was given R1 000. The winner of the Nedbank Cup is Albino All Stars and they went home with R6 000 and a floating trophy. Mhlokozi FC, who finished in the second spot, received R4 000. The overall winner of the Absa Women´s league was Vunza Ladies and they received R8 000, a floating trophy and were promoted to the provincial Sasol Women´s League. The runners-up, Nkuri Ladies FC, collected R5 000. Selwane Ladies, who ended in third place, received R4 000.
Kaizer Nengovhela started writing stories for Limpopo Mirror in 2000. Prior to that he had a five year stint at Phala-Phala FM as sports presenter. In 2005 Kaizer received an award from the province's premier as Best Sports Presenter. The same year he was also nominated as Best Sports Reporter by the Makhado Municipality. Kaizer was awarded the Mathatha Tsedu award in 2014.
