After a disappointing fifth position in the 2009/10 season of the National First Division, Dynamos FC are set to get their act together ahead of the new season, which kicks off after the World Cup in August.
Dynamos conducted a two-day trial session in Nkowankowa with the aim of scouting local talent to beef up their squad for the new season. In the process, eleven players were identified by the stand-in coach, Raymond Mdaka, but the club is still going to asses them before they make any decisions in terms of signing them for the new season.
‘Rikhomeni ringa peli’ as they are affectionately known by their loyal supporters, had two bad seasons in a row. They only participated in one promotional play-off since the owner, Pat Malabela, sold the Premier Soccer League status to Amazulu, which saw his team taking part in the NFD. Dynamos are now looking for a head coach after they parted ways with their much-travelled coach, Jacob ‘Cellular’ Sakala, whose contract was not renewed by the club. The name of former Moroka Swallows coach Ian Gorowa has been linked to a possible move to the club. Club PRO Joe Mbiza confirmed that they had had talks with Gorowa, but nothing had been finalised, he said.
Talking about the new season, Mbiza said: "Look at Dynamos. We believe in continuity and our aim is to keep 90 percent of the players we used last season, because changing the team and coaches could lead to a bad performance by the club. The players who went on trial are aged between 18 and 25 as we also need to add new blood at the team, but we are not going to stand in anyone’s way who wishes to pursue their careers anywhere else".
