Kubayi the new president

The former president of the Hlanganani Football Association, Mr George Kubayi, was elected as the president of the Makhado Local Football Association during the annual general meeting held at the Louis Trichardt show grounds on Saturday.

Kubayi will be assisted by Mr Joseph Maphaha. Mr Joseph Tshikosi will be dealing with financial issues and the additional members are Messrs A Mudau, Jeffrey Maluleke, Ndoda Muvhango, Freddy Phathela and Mabena Mashamba.

During the previous political dispensation, Kubayi was elected as the deputy-president of the Gazankulu Football Assotiation, an organisation that later merged with the Venda Football Association. He later worked as head of legal constitutional affairs, referees´ convenor, head of finance and marketing at Great North East Province Football Association.

He was elected as president of the Hlanganani Football Association early in 2000.

In an interview with Mirror, shortly after his election as president, Kubayi described his appointment as recognition for the good services he was rendering to the community. He further indicated that he would work hard to prove that his appointment in the top structure was long overdue.
