Heavy fine for Black Leopards

Sport  Date: 26 November 2010

During its sitting, which was held at the league’s offices last Friday evening, the disciplinary committee for the Premier Soccer League imposed heavy fines on several clubs, including Black Leopards, for a variety of infringements.

Black Leopards did not waste the committee’s time. Instead, they pleaded guilty to the charge of arriving late for the pre-match meeting ahead of their league match against United FC that was played at the Seisa Ramabodu Stadium in Bloemfontein on Saturday, November 6. They paid a R5 000 admission-of-guilt fine.

Leopards are not free yet. They are facing another charge of a similar nature, following an incident that took place during their match against FC AK at the Eldorado Park Stadium in Johannesburg two weeks ago. They were still to appear before the disciplinary committee at the time of going to press.

The Free-State-based Carara Kicks FC were the hardest hit. They were fined an amount of R40 000 for their failure to provide appropriate medical staff during their match against Hanover Park at the Goble Park Stadium on Saturday, November 6. Carara Kicks were also ordered to pay the costs for the committee sitting, which amounts to R21 000.

FC AK paid an admission-of-guilty fine to the tune of R5 000 for their failure to provide match documents in their match against United FC.

Jomo Cosmos also paid an admission-of-guilt fine of R5 000. They arrived late for the pre-match meeting during their match against Black Leopards that was played at the Makhulong Stadium in Johannesburg on Sunday, October 23.
