With the fight for promotion and relegation is getting tougher by the day, there is a hot competition for the National First Division League’s top goal scorer award.

Although Black Leopards are now lying in the third position on the log, they have something to be proud of. Their goal poacher, Rodney Ramagalela, is one of the league’s top goal scorers so far. Ramagalela scored four goals in ten matches. He proved beyond doubt that he is indeed hungry for goals when he found the net twice in their Nedbank Cup game against FC Cape Town at the Tshifulanani Stadium last Saturday.

Unfortunately for Ramagalela, the two goals he scored last Saturday will not be added to the four he scored in league matches.

In an interview with him earlier this week, Ramagalela said that his intention was to maintain his current form and finish the league programme as the top National First Division marksman. He revealed that he was aware of the fact that most of the teams would target him, saying he would continue to score, despite all the odds.

The other players who have scored the same number of goals so far are Eddy Mathonsi (Batau FC), Taonga Dondo (Dynamos), Bafana Sibeko (University of Pretoria), Aluse Nyondo (Carara Kicks) Petrus Mahlatsi (Blackburn Rovers) Glen Segobela (Bay United) Joseph Makume (African Warriors), Ashley Hartog (FC Cape Town) and Joseph Lekata of FC Cape Town.

The players who have scored three goals apiece to date are Elasto Kapowenza (FC AK), Joshua Souls (FC AK) Ousman Berthe (Jomo Cosmos), Patrick Mubayiwa (Witbank Spurs) Ralph Matema (Witbank Spurs), Darren Dicks (FC Cape Town), Peter Wadabwa ( Thanda Royal Zulu), Lunga Zondi (Bay United) and Christopher Manaka of Thanda Royal Zulu.
