MUDULUNI - The Phadziri Bus Company handed over R20 000 to the Zoutpansberg Football Association to stage a knock-out competition. The handing-over ceremony was held at the Muduluni hall on Friday.
Teams playing in the Limpopo Dairy and Phadziri League will participate in the competition.
During the ceremony, Mr Doctor Phadziri of the Phadziri Bus Company stated that they will continue sponsoring Zofa, saying this is part of its mission. "As a company, it is our obligation to ensure that the society in which we are living is healthy, and sponsoring football is a step in the right direction."
Phadziri said that the aim of his company in funding sport is that they want to develop rural young people, keep the youth off the street and prevent them from abusing alcohol. He stated that his company will support the Zofa because they run an open, clean and transparent league.
The managing director of the Benny's Care Development Academy, Mr David Mufamadi, praised the Phadziri Company for their decision to sponsor football. Mufamadi said he is proud of the quality of soccer and administration in the area. "I'm very proud that we have grown young people of real quality," he said.
He stated that he is convinced that the Zofa will produce stars that will receive international recognition soon. Mr Jerrico Murulana of Zofa said that he appreciated what the Phadziri Company did for the younger children to develop sport in the rural area. Murulana said that soccer is an important vehicle for harmonious interaction between people.
Kaizer Nengovhela started writing stories for Limpopo Mirror in 2000. Prior to that he had a five year stint at Phala-Phala FM as sports presenter. In 2005 Kaizer received an award from the province's premier as Best Sports Presenter. The same year he was also nominated as Best Sports Reporter by the Makhado Municipality. Kaizer was awarded the Mathatha Tsedu award in 2014.
