Dynamos held log leaders to a draw

Sport  Date: 15 April 2011

Tshiozwi Dynamos held the current log leaders of the Safa Vhembe promotional league, Maelula New Mates, to a goalless draw at Tshiozwi on Sunday.

Mates was the superior side from the onset as far as possession of the ball was concerned. This resulted in their putting more pressure on the defence of Dynamos for the better part of the match. Mates missed a golden opportunity in the 10th minute, when Mpariseni Ndouvhada shot wide from the penalty area.

The local lads also had their chances and squandered them. In the first instance, Mashudu Nengovhela shot aimlessly from close range. Realising that their midfield was weary, the technical department of Dynamos introduced Aluwani Nedzamba for Matodzi Maruli. Mates took the match to their opponent late in the match.

The second half was characterised by dangerous play from the visitors´ players. In an attempt to calm the situation, referee Ndifelani Sigagamba flashed some yellow cards in quick succession. David Matshaya and Nditsheni Raluswinga were booked for the application of dirty tricks and dangerous play.

Rofunwa Silima dribbled past three defenders in a row before beating the keeper, Marvel Mauda. He saved the ball, however, before it could cross the goal line.

Dynamos started to chance the action as Mates enjoyed ball possession. As if they were hypnotized, the players of the local team were more spectators than players throughout the match. Mates called on Livhuwani Thabo for Mushe Matibe and his introduction changed the complexion of the match.
