Sport  Date: 22 April 2011

The Safa Vhembe SAB league match between Rockers FC and Makhitha Oscar Stars at the Maelula grounds on Saturday, 16April, ended in an exciting 1-all draw.

Rockers had an early opportunity for a goal in the opening minutes, but Edgar Molewa shot into the hands of the opponents´ keeper, Itani Selota, from the penalty area. The local boys´ misfortune continued in the 20th minute, when Mukondi Tshivhula shot over the bar with only the keeper to beat. Funzani Musenwa of the host team was yellow-carded for a rough tackle a few minutes later.

In the 30th minute, Raymond Netshiendeulu´s well-timed shot missed the poles by a mere inch. Phumudzo Tseisi of Stars dribbled past a number of defenders and scored in the 35th minute. The score was still 1-0 in favour of Stars at the break.

The second half was war from the onset to the bitter end. Rockers started the half at a very fast pace, giving their opponents no moment to breathe. The local lads should have scored in the 60th minute, but their striker, Mahlodi Mosipi, hesitated for too long and the defender of the opposition sent the ball out.

Rockers´ striker, Edgar Molewa, did not live up to expectations as he was tightly marked. The home team should have scored in in 78th minute, but Thomas Matsena´s shot hit the crossbar and bounced back into the field of play after he had received a pre-cooked pass from Clifford Radzilani. Mukondi Tshivhula equalised after he received a square ball from Ronald Semadi in the 83rd minute.

Itani Selota, the keeper of Stars, saved a sure goal from the boot of Thomas Madzena.
