The Vhembe-based team, Davhana Shooting Stars, played well during the Limpopo SAB promotional play-offs at the Seshego Stadium last weekend and were promoted to the Vodacom League.

Shooting Stars ended in the second position during the play-offs. They played four matches, won two, drew one and lost one.

They beat Kings, from Waterberg, 3-2 and then gave Tubatse FC from Sekhukhune a day to remember by hammering them by 7-0. They drew 2-2 with Mopani and lost 3-2 to Super Eagles from Capricorn.

Stars and Super Eagles were automaticaly promoted to the Vodacom League. The championship went to Super Eagles of Capricorn.

According to the managing director of Stars, Mr Mbangiseni Mutavhatsindi, their success can be attributed to the commitment amongst the players and the management. "There was teamwork amongst the players, management and the technical staff and that made the job easier throughout the long season," said Mutavhatsindi.

He thanked the management of Safa Vhembe, led by the president, George Kubayi, and Hulisani Mabasa, who supported them during the play-offs. Mutavhatsindi stated that they would play many friendly matches before going for the league programme. he feels they are fully prepared for the Vodacom League heat.

When asked as to how they will manage to maintain their Vodacom League status without a sponsor, Mr Mutavhatsindi said that they were going all out in searching for a Good Samaritan who can assist them financially. Mr Benjamin Mhlaba is the coach of the team.

On Saturday, they will hold a big celebration party with the community. The celebration function will be held at the soccer grounds and starts at 10:00.
