Wayeni Sea Robbers registered two victories in their Safa Vhembe Promotional playoff matches during the weekend of 28 May.
They beat Maranzhe Hungry Lions 3-2 on Saturday and Khakhanwa United Stars 2-1 the following day.
It was evident from the onset that Sea Robbers were going to beat United Stars, as they took the game to their opponents from the first whistle. They missed two chances before they finally got a goal in the 18th minute. Enos Mathebula beat the offside trap and scored easily.
Realizing that the opponents were beating them with pace, United Stars started to display their rough skills in a bid to neutralize the aggressive Sea Robbers’ strikers. The referee did not give them chance to go on with their unbecoming conduct, as he quickly flashed a yellow card to Dakalo Ndou for obstruction on Gift Khoza. The yellow card was not enough to deter Ndou from tackling the opponents the rough way as he continued with his bad conduct as if nothing had happened. He tackled Innocent Ngomane from behind in the 27th minute. This time the referee gave him his marching orders.
United Stars managed to pull one back, despite the fact that they were one man down. Their captain, Mmbangiseni Mulaudzi, hit the target with a volley from outside the box early in the second half.
Forget Baloyi of Sea Robbers was warned with a card for ignoring the referee’s whistle in the 78th minute. Jeffery Modau forced his way through the defence of United Stars and scored the winning goal in the dying minutes.
