In their champ of champs promotional play-off match which was played at the Tshifulanani Stadium on Saturday, Maranzhe Hungry Lions and Makonde Home Defenders shared the glory when they played to a 2-2 draw.

Hungry Lions, who were the favourites in the match, were out of touch in the first 10 minutes. They were severely punished for that. Home Defenders opened their account in the 6th minute. Mishumo Pandelani headed home, following a square pass by Nakisani Netshilungwi.

Hungry Lions did not panic after conceding the early goal. Instead, they continued to play like a team until they were rewarded seven minutes thereafter. Pfarelo Nemaranzhe beat the keeper with a ground cutter after a scramble within the box. The referee, Mphireni Mphephu, flashed the first yellow card in the 19th minute. Tshifhiwa Magalela of Home Defenders tackled Tshililo Ramukhithi from behind and the referee was quick to produce yellow.

Hungry Lions were leading 2-1 at the end of the first half. Their second goal was registered in the name of Mpfariseni Mathivha in the 38th minute.

Home Defenders introduced Madambi Maswime for Mukovhe Makena, who was looking weary. Hungry Lions responded by replacing Mpfariseni Mathivha, Tungufhadzani Vhangani and Lufuno Mathada with Ndifelani Nevhulaudzi, Lutendo Nemutshetoni and Ndivhuwo Ratshilumela respectively.

Pfarelo Nemaranzhe of Hungry Lions was booked for a late tackle on Avhavhudzani Mukundwa in the 78th minute. Hungry Lions were hit by complacency and started to play back passes within their own danger area. Home Defenders capitalized on the setback and scored the equalizer via Khathutshelo Pandelani.
