Mauluma All Stars beat Tshirenzeni Peace Makers 2-1 in their Makhado Local Football Association League match at the Tshirenzheni grounds on Sunday.
The home side displayed their rough skills from the onset. Realizing that the situation was getting out of hand, the referee, Godfrey Nakhavhambe, flashed two yellow cards in quick succession. The first one went to Vhutshilo Muremi. Muremi was lucky to escape with a caution, as he had handled the ball intentionally. Takalani Kwinda was booked after a late tackle on Fhulufhelo Mashau.
The visitors from Mauluma village took the lead in the 24th minute. Rinae Phaswana tried his luck from outside the box. The ball hit the cross bar and bounced back into the field of play, from where Rabelani Mugodo headed home easily. The score was still 1-1 at the break.
Fhulufhelo Mashau of All Stars was pulled from behind within the box and the referee awarded a penalty to All Stars. Rinae Phaswana converted with a volley. The players of Peace Makers were not happy with the manner in which the referee was handling the game and approached him angrily, accusing him of favouritism.
The situation cam back to normal after one of them, Thuso Tshamano, was given his marching orders for swearing at the referee. Peace Makers were hit hard when another player, Fhulufhelo Mukhwantheli, was given a red card for an out-of-ball infringement on Delton Ramantswana.
The home side pulled one back via Lazarus Mawelewele late in the game.
