Provincial colours for local polocrosse players

The local Limpopo Crusaders Polocrosse Club is pleased with the achievements of its teams and members at the Mpumalanga Championships held at Bethel on June 11 en 12.

The club was represented by three teams, totalling 18 players. The Limpopo Crusaders’ C team was runner-up in the C-division. This team consisted of Erla van der Goot, Rochelle Loock, Tana Koekemoer, Angelique Schuch, Francois Koekemoer and Anel Dafel.

Sheryl James, who played for the club’s A team in the A-division, was awarded the prize for the best horse and rider in the A-division.

Seven players from the local club were also selected to play in the inter-provincial championships to be held in the Free State in two weeks’ time. Those who obtained provincial colours are Bertus Koekemoer and Chris James (men´s veterans), Gary James and Jonty Esser (men´s open), Sandy James and Sandi Goddard (ladies veterans) and Barend Dafel (men´s under 19).

The Limpopo Crusaders Polocrosse Club has increased in membership over the past year, with members from Vivo, Louis Trichardt and Polokwane. Practices are held on Saturdays.
