Khakhathi “Professor” Ramuntshi was simply the best in the professional boxing tournament that was staged at the Thohoyandou Town Hall Saturday evening, 18 June. Ramuntshi beat Marubini Khorommbi with a knockout in the 1st round of the main bout that was scheduled over six rounds.
In the main supporting bout that was scheduled over four rounds, Tshifhiwa Mudau wasted no time as he knocked Prince Sigabe out after only 27 seconds.
Tshifhiwa “Timer” Munyai convinced the judges in his fight against Dion Mmbubana. Although Munyai had collected the majority of the points in the fight, the victory did not come easy as Mmbubana and Munyai exchanged thrilling blows.
The bantamweight fight between Gregory Mello and Rofhiwa Nemushungwa was won by Mello. Although Nemushungwa enjoyed a height advantage, he could not absorb the pressure, as Mello continued to hit him in the abdomen.
Tshililo Munyai’s training manager had to throw in the towel in the fourth round a bid to save him from serious injury, as Elijah Khanyile’s blows were falling like rain.
The referee was forced to stop the fight between Aluwani Nemaranzhe and Masithulela Vhahangwele in the first round. Although the fight was still in the first round, Masithulela had an open wound over the eyebrows. The fight was declared a technical draw.
Simon Mukhoro collected the majority of the points at the expense of Dakalo Muleba in their bantamweight fight that was fought over four rounds. In another bout, Thizwilondi Nemapandoni beat Thabo Mantjane from Polokwane with a TKO in the second round.
