Thengwe Flying Peace were booted out of the Davhana Soccer Tournament by Rospa United, who crushed them 3-1 at the packed Vuwani Mandani grounds on Saturday.
United took the game to their opponents from the first whistle. That resulted in Flying Peace´s losing cohesion in the middle of the park. United capitalized on the confusion and scored their opening goal in the 6th minute. Their killer-striker, Happy Mahuntsi, received a beautiful pass from Oscar Nkhumeleni and gave the keeper of Peace no chance.
Flying Peace took long to recuperate. At that stage, United were knocking on their door every minute. It was not surprising to see United increasing the margin in the 14th minute. Sibusiso Shabangu unleashed a half volley from the edge of the box. The keeper of Flying Peace, Mukovhe Mavhungu, watched helplessly as the ball landed at the back of the net.
Things turned against Flying Peace when United scored their third goal in the 27th minute. Sibusiso Shabangu completed his brace, following a brilliant pass from Marks Munyai.
The team from Mutale pulled one back nine minutes before the break. Edward Netshiavha hooked in a loose ball after a scramble within the box.
The second half saw Flying Peace pushing hard in their search for goals. They replaced Fhatuwani Matshakatshe with Mpho Ndalammbi in the 74th minute. Realizing that Flying Peace were firing on all cylinders, United started to cool down the ball as a time-wasting strategy. Their defence was solid enough to keep the attacks of Flying Peace out of the net.
