Potholes too strong for XI Experience

Muhuyu XI Experience will not take part in the next stage for the Munyamela Soccer Tournament. They were booted out of the competition by Tshatshingo Potholes, who crushed them 3-1 in their quarterfinal match that was played at the Muhuyu grounds on Saturday.

Although XI Experience were the first to blow the trumpet, their celebrations were cut short. As if they were going to bury their opponents alive, XI Experience approached the game aggressively. Their only goal came in the 18th minute.

Avhatendi Mudau beat the Potholes keeper, Nicholas Nembilwi, with a header, following a square pass from Steven Mugananda. XI Experience lost their original fighting spirit as the game progressed. Potholes did not allow Experience to lead them until the end of the first half. They found the equaliser seven minutes before the break. Nakisani Netshilungwi went loose from the middle of the park and ran towards the keeper before unleashing a half volley that as too hot for the Experience keeper, Dzivhuluwani Nephawe, to handle.

The second half saw Potholes pushing hard from behind in their search for more goals. Their efforts paid dividends when Vusani Nekhumbe caught the Experience keeper off guard and released from inside the box. This after he had received a beautiful pass from Nakisani Netshilungwi.

The goal injected more zeal into the strikers of Potholes as the defence spent the remaining part of the game running for cover. Potholes put matters beyond doubt in the 76th minute. The keeper of Experience mishandled the ball and Nakisani Netshilungwi, who was in the perfect scoring position, made no mistake.
