Mianzwi Green Hornet booked a place in the semifinal stage of the Munyamela Soccer Tournament by beating Muhuyu Copper Stars 5-4 in their quarterfinal match that was played at the Muhuyu grounds on Saturday.

The result was not a true reflection of the game, as Copper Stars were dictating the terms from the onset. It was not surprising to see them opening their account 12 minutes into the game. Their speedy forward, Hulisani Muhali, beat the offside trap and scored an easy goal, following a place kick that was taken by Rorumiwa Masakona.

Realizing that Copper Stars were all over them, Green Hornet waited for Copper Stars to commit mistakes and capitalized on that. Nine minutes before the end of the first half, they were also awarded a place kick after Ipfi Mudau was brought down outside the box. The score was 1-1 at half time.

Copper Stars continued to enjoy possession in the last stanza. A heartbreaking scramble within the Hornet danger area in the 57th minute ended with a goal as Hulisani Muhali hooked in the ball to make it 2-1.

Green Hornet replaced Dzivhuluwani Neluheni with Tendani Matsheketsheke in a bid to neutralize the opponents. They found the equalizer in the 78th minute, when Vhahangwele Ratshibvumo headed home after a corner kick.

The score was 2-2 when the referee blew the final whistle and the winner was determined through a penalty shoot-out. Green Hornet converted three of their five chances through Lesly Sioga, Mulanga Matsheketsheke and Ipfi Mudau, while Copper Stars scored two.
