Mphego Real Rovers continued to collect league points when they crushed Maha Flying Gunners 4-0 in their SAB league match at the Mphego grounds on Sunday, 4 September.
Gunners failed to play like a team from the onset, thereby giving the home side a good chance to do as they please in the middle of the park. It took Real Rovers 14 minutes to open their account. Zwidofhelangani Nethomboni made no mistake after receiving a neat pass from Livhuwani Munyai.
Flying Gunners came close to scoring in the 24th minute. Their right flank, Ronald Rakhumba, fumbled at the goal finish with the Rovers’ keeper, Foster Makhwanya, already beaten.
Zwidofhelangani Nethomboni of Real Rovers was reprimanded with a card, following a late tackle on Owen Tshamano. The home side was two goals up when the referee blew the half-time whistle. Their second goal was registered in Khodani Tshisikule’s name. The keeper of Flying Gunners, Thuso Mungoni, watched helplessly as the ball hit the back of the net three minutes before the break.
The visitors introduced Tshifhiwa Mukoma and Murendeni Magau for Avhapfani Marumo and Emmanuel Maphutha respectively.
Nndwakhulu Khorommbi of Real Rovers and Elikana Rakhumba of Flying Gunners were also cautioned with cards for dangerous tackles. Rovers replaced Zwidofhelangani Nethomboni with Ndivhuwo Sadiki in the 67th minute.
The replacement worked for them as they soon found their third goal, which came via Vele Mahalihali, who came on as a substitute. Gunners missed a fortune when Owen Netshifhefhe shot wide from close range. Rovers scored the fourth via Nndwakhulu Khorommbi later in the game.
