After beating Block Home Sweepers 4-1 a fortnight ago, Ngwenani Young Chiefs proved that the sky is the limit when they registered another victory last weekend.
They beat United Artists 1-0 in their SAB League match at the Lufule grounds on Sunday, 18 September.
The game was characterised by illegal tackles, but the referee, Mr AC Mapasa, refused to see any culprit go free. He flashed seven yellow cards and a red card in a bid to stamp his authority on the game. In the first instance, the keeper of Young Chiefs, Tshimangadzo Mulovhedzi, and the striker of Artists, Mpho Nefale, exchanged some bitter words with the referee. The argument was cut short by Mapasa, who quickly produced yellow to calm the situation.
The Chiefs’ fast forward, Tshifhiwa “Gama” Ramatsea, could not live up to his reputation as a goal poacher as the defence of Artists was rock solid.
The last player to be reprimanded with a card in the first half was Eric Mangenzhane of Young Chiefs. He handled the ball intentionally and the referee was lenient enough to let him go with a mere caution. The score was 0-0 at half time.
The much-awaited goal for Chiefs came in the 74th minute via Evans Netshitungulu, who hooked in a loose ball after a scramble within the box. Mashau Ramulondi of Chiefs was dismissed for a late tackle on Mashudu Mahuma in the 80th minute.
