Matika FC continued to drop league points when they lost 3-2 to Madombidzha Arsenal in their Safa Vhembe SAB league match at the Madombidzha grounds on Sunday (02/10).
Arsenal deserved to win from the onset, as Matika were running for cover for the best part of the game. The home team took the lead in the eighth minute. Mbengeni Rambuwani caught the Matika keeper off guard and blasted in a half-volley from inside the box.
The boys from Masagani could have equalised in the 10th minute, but Matha Ratshilaya shot wide.
The home team´s Dakalo Nwanamwidwa combined well with Ritshidze Matodzi at the forefront. Londy Musiamo made no mistake after receiving a neat pass from Rendani Sithodo within the box, to make the score 2-0.
Matika did not give in without a fight, despite the setback. They continued to fight like a team and reduced the margin after Mpepe Mhlanga was brought down and the referee awarded a penalty. Pedry Pule scored from the spot.
Arsenal introduced Shepo Ranku for Matumo Mukhuba in the 43rd minute. Titshidze Matodzi scored by his team´s third goal, after the Matika keeper missed the ball. Matika scored their second goal when Matha Ratshilaya found the back of the net.
Kaizer Nengovhela started writing stories for Limpopo Mirror in 2000. Prior to that he had a five year stint at Phala-Phala FM as sports presenter. In 2005 Kaizer received an award from the province's premier as Best Sports Presenter. The same year he was also nominated as Best Sports Reporter by the Makhado Municipality. Kaizer was awarded the Mathatha Tsedu award in 2014.
