In their Vodacom Promotional League match that was played at the Tshifulanani Stadium on Saturday, Nobela All Stars were too good for Rospa United, whom they beat 3-1.
All Stars made their intentions clear from the onset. Their strikers kept on knocking on United´s door. The United strikers, Happy Mahuntsi and Mashudu Mashapha, could not live up to the fans’ expectations as they were tightly marked.
All Stars opened their account in the 24th minute. Leabua Lemena tried his luck with a ground cutter from outside the box and the keeper of United, Tshifhiwa Netshisaulu, watched helplessly as the ball hit the back of the net. Mashudu Mashapha of United was brought down within the penalty box seven minutes thereafter. The referee, Thebelo Tshienda, never hesitated to point at the penalty spot. Marks Munyai converted the goal.
Rinae Phaswana of All Stars was reprimanded with a card, following a late tackle on Mashudu Mashapha in the 44th minute. The score was still 1-1 when the proceedings for the first half came to an end.
United introduced Thomas Makhubele and Shandukani Mukoma for Happy Mahuntsi and Sibusiso Shabangu respectively. A substitute, Sydwell Ritsuri, scored Stars’ second goal with a header. The keeper of Nobela, Harold Ndlovu, was cautioned for wasting time .
Pressure continued to mount on the defence of United and Thembisani Nevhulamba was brought down within the box. It was a clear penalty for All Stars. Vusimuzi Phiri made no mistake from the penalty spot.
