On Wednesday, 9 October 2013, the situation at the Makhado Municipality's dumping site took a turn for the worst.
The road to the dumping site was completely blocked by rubbish, leading to people dumping their refuse by the side of the main road.
According to homeless people living on the dumping site, the TLBs and machinery have been broken for months, crippling effective disposal services. This follows years of continued neglect at the site. The stench and thousands of flies are causing great concern for possible health issues that may arise.
