The struggle for promotion and to escape the relegation axe at the end of the season will continue among the teams affiliated with the Limpopo Stream of the ABC Motsepe League this weekend. Only one match will be played on Friday afternoon, while the remaining fixtures are scheduled for Saturday afternoon. The lone match on Friday will feature The Dolphins FC against Mokopane PJ Stars at the Senwabarwana Sports Complex outside Polokwane.
After their 1-0 victory over Vondwe XI Bullets at the Mpheni Grounds last Saturday, Mpheni Defenders will play another match in front of their home crowd this Saturday. They will host Giyani Happy Boys at the same venue. Defenders must secure a win to enhance their chances of lifting the league trophy at the end of the season. Defenders currently lead the pack with 24 points from 10 outings.
Defenders will welcome back the team’s head coach, Mr Sydwell Phuravhathu, on Saturday. Phuravhathu watched the team’s last three games from the sideline after being red-carded in their game against United Artists at the Malamulele Stadium early last month.
Happy Boys are also motivated to collect the maximum points at stake. They are not safe regarding relegation and currently perched third from the bottom of the log with nine points.
Munaca FC will entertain United Artists at the Makhado Show Grounds. Both Artists and Munaca secured victories in their matches last weekend. Madridtas FC will visit Winners Park at the Westfalia Stadium outside Tzaneen. Vondwe XI Bullets will hit the road again, traveling to Musina to play against Musina United at the Musina Rugby Stadium. Maruleng Celtic will meet Emmanuel FC at the Drakensberg Stadium outside Phalaborwa. The other fixtures include Sun Rise FC vs City Motors, Eleven Fast Tigers vs Tubatse United, and Tzaneen United vs Ditlou FC.
